The Importance of having your Alarm System Maintained!

Ever been woken up by your Alarm System in the early hours of the morning, you've entered your code and either the panel has locked up or it says "Low Battery"??? - Or have you been woken up by your neighbours alarm randomly going off when they are out and there is nothing you can do??? - Or have you been sitting in your house and the alarm starts beeping at you or activates for no reason???

If the answer is yes to any of the above questions, then your Alarm System is basically asking for a Service!

Alarm Systems, like cars require regular services or maintenance checks to ensure that they carry on working efficiently. These services should be taken out every 12 months by a qualified Alarm Engineer supplied by Crosby Intruder Alarms. Batteries should be replaced every 5 years, otherwise they may become a Fire Risk as they become hot and start to leak acid!!!

What do we do on a service?

We test all voltages within the main Control Panel to ensure that they are correct.
We test the standby battery to ensure that it will support the Control Panel in the event of a mains failure.
We fully "walk test" the system to ensure that each device operates correctly.
We test the external and internal sounder to ensure that they are operating correctly.
We inspect all flexible connections within the Control Panel to ensure that no terminals have worked loose over time.
We set and unset the alarm system and activate and reset it to ensure that the system is operating correctly.
We then fill out a service report and leave a signed copy with yourself, in case your Insurance Company ask to see proof that you have your Alarm System Maintained.

Crosby & Burglary

Crosby has seen a big rise in Burglaries over the last few weeks. Merseyside Police offer crime prevention advice and reassurance to all residents in the area. They have a great Interactive Crime Advice House on their website http://www.merseyside.police.uk/.

The majority of burglaries that have been reported to the Police have had laptops, TV's, jewellery and money stolen. Burglars are making their entry by gaining access through unsecure windows and doors, this was the method used by more than half of the burglaries reported. Other methods have included smashing windows before making off.

The Police are patrolling the hot spot areas on a regular basis and performing stop and search checks and they are utilising every resource that they have available to them including the mounted section, the dog unit and they are working closely with the volume crime team. They have set up an operation code named Operation Copely which has been set up to analyse crime patterns and look and known criinals and suspects.

Crosby Intruder Alarms and the Police would like to advise you to check all doors and windows when leaving your property, ensure that they are closed and locked properly. Double check PVC doors to ensure that the locking mechanism has been utilised correctly. Even lock your door when you are in at home, even if you just pop into the house to pick up something. Burglars will try every opportunity they get, most PVC doors aren't locked properly and Burglars will try the handle and steal whatever is close to the dooreven whilst you are at home! Please do not leave valuables such as Hand Bags and Car Keys by your door or in areas that can be accessed easily.

Don't make it easy for Burglars, burglaries can affect people in many differnt ways, some people never feel safe in their own home, some people take years to get over a burglary, please remember to lift the handle, turn the key and lock them out!!!
